Paso Robles Winery
This historic, 19th-century winery was redesigned to provide a contemporary hospitality experience with an underlying sense of authenticity and a restored connection to its community roots. Originally cut into a hillside to allow for gravity production, the now-dilapidated structure’s masonry walls anchor new building envelopes, creating new tasting areas, gallery space, barrel storage, and a large subterranean production facility. A choreographed dialogue among old and new, heavy and light, earth and sky provides context for cultural exchange.
