Shift Loft

This project converts a stale 1960s penthouse apartment into an open, light-filled loft. Exploiting the long spans of the building’s concrete frame, several interior partitions were removed to create open living space and reconnect the deep floorplate to the outside. Interior elements were delineated as furniture-like objects to enhance the perception of openness. Large expanses of sliding glass doors and windows, in concert with reflective surfaces, frame layers of space and distant panoramas.
